Phenylketonuria PK is a rare inherited disorder. It impacts the individual's power to metabolize an amino acid called phenylalanine. Typically, the liver creates an enzyme called phenylalanine hydroxylase, which changes phenylalanine into tyrosine. In individuals with PKU, this enzyme fails to funct
